The prominent steeple of Mandawe Church can be seen from afar and was built of local stone in the shape of an inverted wooden Zulu milking pail. Visitors have a spectacular view of the magnificent Phobane Lake & Nkwaleni Vallley with its evergreen citrus and banana plantations.
Take the P230 turnoff a few kilometres out of Eshowe and follow the signage. The last section of the road requires a vehicle with a high clearance as the road is heavily rutted.
